Bluejay Diagnostics (BJDX) is ripping in Tuesday’s premarket — up roughly 39% before the open on August 5, with volume that’s already lapped the entire float many times over. Writing this at 8:39 AM ET, here’s the first thing to know: there’s no fresh headline. No 8-K overnight, no press release this morning. The last real company news was completion of enrollment in the SYMON-II sepsis study, announced July 21-22. That’s two weeks stale. What’s driving this is structure, not story — and structure is teachable.

Why a float this small moves like this

Bluejay is a pre-revenue diagnostics company building the Symphony platform, a rapid near-patient IL-6 test for sepsis triage. It doesn’t yet have regulatory clearance for Symphony and needs FDA authorization before it can be marketed in the US — the plan is to analyze SYMON-II samples in 2026 and submit a 510(k) in 2027.

The float, though, is the whole ballgame here. Four reverse splits since July 2023 — a combined 1-for-32,000 consolidation — including a 1-for-4 split effective January 29, 2026, have compressed the share count to under a million freely trading shares. Monday August 4 saw volume north of 20 million shares against a 20-day average around 3.5M — the float turned over dozens of times in one session, and premarket is doing it again. When supply is that thin, aggressive buying doesn’t fill at the ask; it becomes the ask. That’s the lesson: tiny float plus outsized volume equals violent price discovery in both directions.

The supply waiting upstairs

The overhang is real and filed. Bluejay closed a private placement in June 2026 for up to $23.7 million — $8.5 million upfront, with roughly $15.2 million more contingent on full warrant exercise, and a June 17 registration covers resale of 11.22 million shares for holders — more than ten times the current shares outstanding if those warrants convert into the float. A large warrant overhang sits above a very small float, and the 10-K flags going-concern uncertainty, with cash potentially running out in Q3 2026 absent new capital.

One more wrinkle: because of the January split, a slide back below $1.00 carries prompt-delisting risk with no compliance grace period. Reclaiming $1.00 last night wasn’t just psychological.

Levels: $1.25 (the premarket low zone) is first support, $1.00 the line that can’t break. Resistance sits near $1.80, the premarket high — through that on sustained volume and there’s little supply until the mid-$2s. Fade in volume plus a VWAP loss near $1.45 would say the squeeze is exhaling. Size like the range is 40%+, because it is.

Mechanics Box — the structural read
  • Shares outstanding: 1.03M · Float: 936.4K
  • Dilution-relevant SEC filings (30d): none found in the last 30 days
  • Splits: 1-for-4 reverse (2026-01-29), 1-for-50 reverse (2024-11-18), 1-for-8 reverse (2024-06-20), 1-for-20 reverse (2023-07-24)
  • Roughly 1.03M shares outstanding with a float under 1M after four reverse splits since July 2023 totaling 1-for-32,000, most recently 1-for-4 in January 2026. A June 2026 private placement raised $8.5M upfront with warrants worth up to ~$15.2M more, and a resale registration covers 11.22M shares — a 10x-plus overhang versus shares outstanding. The FY2025 10-K discloses going-concern uncertainty, with cash potentially exhausted in Q3 2026 absent new capital, and no Nasdaq bid-price grace period below $1.00 due to the recent split.
