Edible Garden AG (NASDAQ: EDBL) is the pre-market leader this Monday morning, July 27, more than doubling off Friday’s close on volume that has already turned over its entire float many times before the opening bell. As of this writing at 8:43 AM ET, the tape has printed a pre-market high just under $10 and a low back near Friday’s close — a full round trip’s worth of range before most traders finished their coffee. There’s a real catalyst here, but the size of the move is a mechanics story, and it’s worth understanding exactly how this machine works.

The catalyst

At 8:17 AM ET, the company announced a significant expansion of its fresh cut herb distribution with Walmart across the Mid-Atlantic region, expected to significantly increase availability of its herbs at Walmart stores throughout the area. Worth knowing before you size a position: initial shipments under the expanded Walmart distribution program are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026 — so revenue impact is near-term but not booked yet, and no dollar figure was attached. Edible Garden is a controlled environment agriculture company out of Belvidere, NJ, growing organic lettuces and herbs, and Walmart is a long-standing customer — this is a deepening of an existing relationship, not a brand-new logo.

Why the move is this big

Here’s the education piece. EDBL executed a 1-for-45 reverse stock split effective July 13, 2026 — two weeks ago — which came on top of a 1-for-10 reverse split that took effect February 3, 2026. That’s a combined 450-to-1 compression in six months, and it left the stock with a float in the mid-six-figures. When a float that small meets pre-market volume in the millions of shares, price discovery gets violent in both directions. This is textbook float-squeeze mechanics: real news lights the match, but the share structure is the accelerant. The 52-week range — a split-adjusted high above $1,200 against a low near $3 — tells you what the underlying trend has been between squeezes.

The supply question

Now the part most traders skip. The company’s proxy authorized reverse splits up to an aggregate 1-for-250 ratio, primarily to help maintain its Nasdaq listing, and it counted roughly 5.5 million shares entitled to vote as of the May 6, 2026 record date. Reverse out the 1-for-45 split from the current share count and the implied pre-split total is several times that May figure — meaning meaningful issuance hit the tape between May and July. Fundamentals show a full-year net loss north of $17 million, so the cash need isn’t going away. Fresh supply into a spike is the standard playbook for names with this structure; watch EDGAR for a 424B or S-1 today or tomorrow.

How it might trade

  • Resistance: the pre-market high just under $10 is the line. Reclaim it on volume at the open and there’s air above — sub-1M floats don’t respect measured moves.
  • Support: the pre-market VWAP in the mid-$7s is the first tell. Lose it early and the low-$3s gap fill is the magnet.
  • Volume tell: pre-market turnover already dwarfs the 20-day average. If regular-session volume fades in the first 30 minutes, the move likely already happened overnight.
  • Halt risk is high both directions — size so an LULD halt against you isn’t fatal.

Second act depends entirely on whether dilution paper shows up. Clean tape for 48 hours and this float can squeeze again; a shelf takedown ends it fast.

Mechanics Box — the structural read
  • Shares outstanding: 639.8K · Float: 634.7K
  • Dilution-relevant SEC filings (30d): none found in the last 30 days
  • Splits: 1-for-45 reverse (2026-07-13), 1-for-10 reverse (2026-02-03), 1-for-25 reverse (2025-03-03), 1-for-20 reverse (2024-04-05), 1-for-30 reverse (2023-01-26)
  • EDBL executed a 1-for-45 reverse split effective July 13, 2026, following a 1-for-10 split on February 3, 2026 — 450-to-1 combined compression — leaving a float in the mid-six-figures against roughly 640K shares outstanding. The 2026 proxy authorized aggregate reverse splits up to 1-for-250 to protect the Nasdaq listing, and the implied pre-split share count grew several-fold between the May proxy record date and the July split. FY net loss exceeded $17M, so continued capital raising is likely.
