Lakewood-Amedex (LABT) is up roughly 250% in Tuesday’s premarket as I write this at 8:57 AM ET on July 22, with more than 29 million shares already printed against a float that doesn’t crack a million. Let me walk you through why that combination matters, because the mechanics here are the whole story.

Start with what the company does. Lakewood-Amedex Biotherapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech developing a topical Bisphosphocin-class compound, Nu-3, for infected diabetic foot ulcers. The company plans to advance the current Nu-3 gel formulation into a Phase 2 clinical trial targeting mildly infected diabetic foot ulcers. This morning’s press release highlights Nu-3 resistance data tied to the Presidential Advisory Council’s national action plan on antibiotic-resistant bacteria — a headline that ties a nano-cap to a big-picture policy theme. A week earlier, on July 15, the company put out preclinical safety data supporting dose selection for its upcoming Phase 2a trial.

The catalyst is thin — the float is not

Here’s the honest read: the news is real, but it’s incremental preclinical and policy-adjacent messaging, not an FDA decision or a partnership. Data readouts like these rarely move a healthy stock 250% by themselves. What’s moving LABT is structure. Understand this pattern and you’ll spot it again.

  • A micro float. After a 1-for-10 reverse split, the tradable float sits under a million shares. When demand spikes, there’s almost no supply to absorb it, so price gaps violently.
  • Volume that dwarfs the float. Premarket volume is already dozens of times the entire float and roughly a hundred times the 20-day average. That’s not accumulation — that’s the same shares being flipped repeatedly by fast money.
  • A recent reverse split. LABT executed a 1-for-10 reverse stock split, effective at 4:01 p.m. ET on June 19, 2026, and began trading split-adjusted when Nasdaq opened June 22. That’s what collapsed the share count into this tiny float — and it’s usually a compliance move, not a sign of strength. That eye-popping 52-week high is a split-adjusted number, not a level this thing recently traded.

This is a textbook float-squeeze. The educational takeaway: when volume runs many multiples of the float, price is being set by order-flow imbalance, not by the science in the press release.

The mechanics you can’t ignore

Watch the dilution machinery. The reverse split reduced authorized common shares to 12,500,000, with the ticker unchanged and a new CUSIP assigned. There are already 424B3 prospectus supplements on file, meaning a shelf/registration mechanism is live. A company with a large net loss and negative free cash flow, sitting on a sudden price spike, has every incentive to sell stock into strength. That’s not a character judgment — it’s a supply warning. Fresh S-1/424B pricing or an ATM print is exactly the kind of thing that caps these moves.

One more wrinkle: Wall Street Zen cut Lakewood-Amedex from a “hold” to a “sell” rating on May 30th. And short interest actually declined into late June, so this is less a short-squeeze story and more a raw float-and-momentum story.

The levels

Premarket built a VWAP in the mid-$5s after tagging a high near $7.80 and a low around the prior close. Those are your goalposts into the open:

  • Resistance: the premarket high near $7.80. A reclaim on real regular-session volume opens the door to a second leg; rejection there sets up a fade.
  • Support: the premarket VWAP in the mid-$5s. Lose it and the air pocket down toward the low-$3s and the prior close is wide open — there’s no float-based support to lean on.
  • The tell: if opening-session volume can’t hold multiples of the float, exhaustion is the base case. Halts (both up and down) are likely given the range.

Size for volatility, define your stop before the open, and don’t marry the biotech narrative to the tape.

Mechanics Box — the structural read
  • Shares outstanding: 1.75M · Float: 956.5K
  • Dilution-relevant SEC filings (30d): 424B3 (2026-06-22), 424B3 (2026-06-22)
  • Splits: 1-for-10 reverse (2026-06-22)
  • LABT executed a 1-for-10 reverse stock split effective June 19, 2026, trading split-adjusted from June 22, which cut authorized shares to 12.5M and left a sub-1M-share float against ~1.75M shares outstanding. Two 424B3 prospectus supplements are on file, indicating an active registration/shelf mechanism that could supply stock into strength. The company is clinical-stage with a large net loss and negative free cash flow; no going-concern determination is confirmed here.
